September 10, 2016

A Word From Don

  • The new book has been renamed Nurture and this issue includes a link to the introduction.

Please help me make it better: read a part and give me feedback (Nurture Chapter 1).

  • There are now five e-courses available (Your Mind Is More Than You Think).

  • Attitutor Services is now participating at both the Wayfinding Academy and at the Village Free School.

Wayfinding Academy is the newest college in Oregon having opened it's doors to their first cohort of students just a few weeks ago.

  • If you are in the Portland area join us at the Well-Being in Schools monthly meetup for a lively discussion of the role of policy in creating positive change in schools.

7PM on September 12th (details below and via the link above).

Featured E-course

Your Mind Is More Than You Think 14-Week E-Course

This course is an introduction to the three most central lessons from the science of psychology.

  • You have more than one mind.

  • We are situational beings, each of us can be changed by the situations we encounter without knowing we've been changed.

  • Creating the good requires more than getting rid of the bad.

Over 14 weeks you will be provided with links to some of the most entertaining talks and a few papers by leading psychologists, journalists, and other authorities as they reveal how these important lessons about the human mind were learned and what they mean.

The system generated messages says 15 weeks because there is a bonus week of extra videos that are cool but did not make it into the main lessons for the course.

Attitutor Serivces
Wayfinding Academy & Village Free School

Schools of Conscience contracts Attitutor Services to provide services to schools.

This past week I started offering special services to the Village Free School as I mentioned in the last newsletter.

The kids in Room C (the teenagers) had requested a course on psychology and did not have any idea who could provide such a course.

I stepped up and that gave me the impetus I needed to finally put online that new e-course mentioned above.

It has been a work in progress for the past 5 years or more.

The plan is for all of them to sign up on the first day of class so that everyone will get the weekly e-mails at the same time.

If you would like to participate we will be kicking things off next week and you can e-mail me about when to sign-up and how to play along virtually.

In the past two days I was invited to be a guest lecturer at the Wayfinding Academy in their Understanding Our World Course taught by Jesse Laird.

The focus of my conversation with the class will be three central lessons of psychology and how they inform our opportunities to influence our societal systems.

I will be inviting those who would like a more in-depth exploration to participate in the new e-course on psychology (see above).
