These days, vacation companies are doing more to be inclusive and make travel easier for wheelchair users. As more self-catering accommodations become available to people with disabilities, we thought now would be the perfect time to plan an escape from the daily routine and check into an accessible rental.

That’s why we’ve selected some of the best disability-friendly holiday cottages with wet rooms in the UK to inspire disabled travelers to get around to exploring Britain on this year’s staycation.

One company working to make travel more inclusive is Airbnb, which recently launched its own modified category. The rating lists wheelchair-accessible accommodations that have been manually verified by Airbnb to provide step-free paths to homes, bedrooms, and bathrooms, as well as other accessible features.

For the launch, the rental site worked with disability advocate and TV presenter Sophie Morgan, who listed her London home with views of Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral and Canary Wharf on Airbnb.

London Airport is easily accessible from Sophie

From the bright bedroom to the spacious living room and the wet room she loves the most, Sophie’s apartment is one of hundreds of Airbnbs that include a map of the interior within the listing photos so disabled guests can see if the vacation home meets their needs.

While London offers a great city break in the UK, we’ve scoured through Airbnb’s Adapted Category to bring you more of the best disabled-friendly holiday cottages with wet rooms, accessible parking, and step-free access.

Whether you’re looking to get away from it all in a gorgeous Airbnb beach house with family or friends in West Sussex, or get cozy with a partner in a luxury cabin in Lancashire, these Airbnbs are worth considering for their accessibility. And if you’re looking for a vacation cottage with direct beach access, we’ve found one very close by.

From a luxury Dorset lodge with hot tub and lift, to a dog-friendly Airbnb on the edge of the National Trust Felbrigg Hall estate in Norfolk, these are some of the best disability-friendly cottages with wet rooms and more in the UK.
