Holiday foods you can and can’t share with dogs and cats


You see those wide eyes - innocent, endearing, yet covertly complicit - staring at you from under the dinner table. Before you know it, it’s practically a dog or cat family It has its own place, and you serve up bits of turkey and all the trimmings.

Opinions vary, but the consensus from the veterinarians who spoke to The Washington Post is that little bites matter It’s fine to share many festive foods with healthy pets, as long as you follow one rule: everything in moderation.

“Holiday treats are good for healthy dogs,” said Lori Teller, president of the American Veterinary Medical Association. But she said caution should be exercised with pets with allergies, intolerances, sensitivities, or any underlying health conditions.
