Kelowna hospital employee wins convertible, vacation in Lake Life Lottery

First winner of a lottery supporting the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation (KGH) and the YMCA of South Interior BC.

Allen Davenport, a 58-year-old healthcare worker, won a bonus prize in the inaugural Lake Live sweepstakes — a 2022 Ford Mustang EcoBoost convertible and a trip to Los Angeles or Phoenix.

Davenport, who works for health sciences for Island Health and Inland Health, received the keys to his convertible last week.

“I am really excited to share these awards with my family,” said Davenport. “I only really bought a ticket because KGH and YMCA are really worthwhile causes. This sounds like a win-win for everyone.”

Davenport works at Island Health in Victoria and at Kelowna General Hospital when visiting family in the Okanagan several times a year. He sees firsthand the value of fundraising for patients and healthcare staff on a daily basis.

“Hospital organizations are instrumental in procuring the latest equipment that allows us to meet the standards of care we strive for,” he said.

Allison Ramchuk, CEO of KGH, was thrilled to hear about Davenport’s win.

“Knowing that stress hospitals have faced the pandemic, it is great that hardworking BC healthcare workers are enjoying a new car and a warm vacation thanks to the Lake Life lottery.”

The Lake Life lottery jackpot is a $1.75 million dream home in Lake Country.

Other prizes include trips to New York, France, Italy, Hawaii and a 50/50 split, with the chance to win up to $750,000.

The deadline to purchase a ticket is November 24.
