Nisswa Destination Visitor Guide - 2023 - Pine and Lakes Echo Journal

We would like to welcome you to Nisswa, Minnesota. Those of us who are fortunate to live here want everyone to come and enjoy life in Northland.

Generations of families have known this secret, and many consider it a second home to spend time with us during the summer months.

Why come to Niswa? We have over 50 stores along Main Street and Side Streets, many of which are open 7 days a week during the busy summer months.

You will find over 30 restaurants, breweries and some of the best coffee shops in our area - there is something for everyone.

You might look for outdoor activities like cycling. Hop on the Paul Bunyan Trail - it runs through our small town. From Brainerd to Bemidji the road is both beautiful and challenging for cyclists of all abilities.

You might be looking for an opportunity to go boating, swimming, fishing, or kayaking on one of the more than 400 lakes in Crow Wing County alone.

Every season has something to offer, so take advantage of the fall and winter seasons in Niswa. Topping the list are snowmobile trails, skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and ice skating. We have a lot to offer across the region.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the world famous Niswa Turtle Races. For more than half a century, we’ve entertained thousands of youngsters (and the young at heart) on Wednesday afternoons during the summer months with all our fun turtle activities.

The Naswa Chamber of Commerce hosts many events during the year starting in January and continuing throughout the year. You can see our list of events on the following calendar pages.

There are plenty of accommodation and camping options in Niswa to suit everyone’s budget and expectations. You can see them listed later in this guide.

So if you need help planning that dream vacation, or if you’re coming to town for one of our signature events, contact the Niswa Chamber of Commerce to help implement those travel plans.

See you in Naswa where the people are friendly and the air is always fresher!
