No waste and recycling collections on the bank holiday for the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Richmond Council will postpone waste collection and close the Town Mid Road Household Waste and Recycling Center on Monday, September 19, to allow as many people as possible to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate her reign.

Monday 19 September will be a bank holiday coinciding with the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Instead, waste collections and recycling will take place one day later than usual. For example, the Monday groups will take place in the Tuesday and Friday groups on Saturday. Normal domestic collection schedules will resume a week later on Monday, September 26th.

Anyone with a reservation for the Townmead Recycling Center will be contacted directly and will be able to visit at any time for the next two weeks, without an appointment..

Richmond Council Leader, Cllr Gareth Roberts said:

While our public services will continue as usual during the current period of national mourning, we will be interrupting some services on her birthday. The state funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II to allow as many people as possible, including Including our council staff and our contractor workers, to pay their respects and express their respect if they so desire.”
